Below are links to essential information on accessing and using the FHA Connection for FHA Roster Appraisers.
FHA Appraiser Roster: The appraiser must be listed on the FHA Appraiser Roster before registering for an FHA Connection user ID. The FHA Appraiser Roster page on the HUD.GOV website includes information on applying for the FHA Appraiser Roster, maintaining Roster information, and renewing credentials, among other things. To go to the FHA Appraiser Roster page, click here.
Register for the FHA Connection: Once the appraiser is on the FHA Appraiser Roster, a request can be made for an FHA Connection user ID. To register, click here and follow the instructions for the FHA-approved Appraiser user type.
Sign on to the FHA Connection: Once an FHA Connection user ID is issued, the appraiser can sign on to the FHA Connection. The password entered on the FHA Connection registration form is used to initially sign on to the FHA Connection and must be changed immediately after signing on. If the password is forgotten and must be reset, it is reset to the last six digits of the user's Social Security Number. See Signing on/off of the FHA Connection [PDF] in the FHA Connection Guide.
FHA Connection Orientation: To get acquainted with the FHA Connection environment, see Site Map [PDF] and Using the FHA Connection [PDF] in the FHA Connection Guide.
Maintain FHA Appraiser Roster Information: After signing on to the FHA Connection, appraisers can update their own records through the Appraiser Roster option on the ID Maintenance menu (link to the menu is located above the red banner at the top of the page).
Field Reviewer for Appraiser Review Process: As part of its appraiser review process, HUD Homeownership Centers (HOCs) enter into contracts with appraisal agencies to have Roster appraisers perform field reviews. The HOC FHA Connection ID administrator associates the appraiser's FHA Connection user ID with the contractor (referred to as the Prime Contractor). The HOC Data Manager assigns the field review to the Prime Contractor. The Prime Contractor then assigns an associated appraiser to conduct the field review. The Appraiser Review Functions menu, where field review information is entered, is accessed through the following links: Single Family FHA, Single Family Origination, Appraiser Review Functions (see also the Site Map [PDF]).
