 Quick Start: Single Family Servicing Claims Processing

Claims Processing allows lenders to submit particular claims to HUD for Single Family mortgage insurance benefits and to review the status of claims previously made to HUD. Listed below are descriptions of the options on the Claims Processing menu.

Claims Processing Menu
Menu Option Description
Claims Input May be used to enter claims and transmit them to HUD. Use Claims Input for:
Claim Type 01 (Conveyance or Deed in Lieu), Parts A (General Information) and B (Fiscal Data)
Claim Type 06 (Without Conveyance), Parts A (General Information) and B (Fiscal Data)
Claim Type 07 (Pre-foreclosure), Parts A (General Information) and B (Fiscal Data)
Claim Type 31-33 (Loss Mitigation) (The types are as follows: Type 31 = Special Forbearance Incentive; Type 32 = Loan Modification Incentive; Type 33 = Partial Claim (Subordinate Mortgage))
Claims Input Summary Displays claims and comments that have been input on a given day by a user. These claims and comments are available for view on that day until entered during overnight processing into HUD's Claim System. Then, two days following transmission, the claim status may be viewed in Claims Status.
Claim Status Provides claims information about paid and suspended single family mortgage insurance benefits.
Suspended Claim Error Messages Reference list of claim information for the following: Disposition Claims, Combination Error Codes, and Loss Mitigation Claims. Provides the claim code, claim title, and a brief explanation on how to resolve the corresponding claim.
Title Approval Status Provides current information on completed title approvals for requested cases.
Remit Single Family Claim Allows a lender to begin the claim remittance process for a defaulted forward FHA-insured Single Family loan. Claim remittances are repaid to HUD for any overage amounts paid by HUD to the lender on a previous claim.
Remit HECM Claim Allows a lender to begin the claim remittance process for a defaulted reverse (HECM) FHA-insured Single Family loan. Claim remittances are repaid to HUD for any overage amounts paid by HUD to the lender on a previous claim.
Claim Remittance History Allows a lender to view claim remittance information, e.g., status and tracking IDs of each remittance, for both forward and reverse (HECM) cases previously submitted.
